The Charity Project at AnimeIowa is about being a good neighbor, and giving back to the community. The mission of the Iowa Firefighters Memorial is to forever honor, celebrate and inspire the spirit, courage and service of Iowa firefighters-past, present and future.
The Iowa Fire Fighters Memorial, located north of I-80, in Coralville, Iowa, is a forever standing tribute to those that served Iowa’s communities against the rages of fire.

A professional tailor, seamstress and cosplayer since 2006, Mimiru Riley enjoys creating costumes with personal touches with beads, embroidery, textile manipulation and texturing. With a background in graphic art she also spends her time creating nerdy art using Nordic knotwork based on the Ringerike, Urnes and Broa style. She is known for her intricate detail work in her sewing and using embroidery, fabric manipulation, beadwork to create unique costume designs. Mimi enjoys helping others learn how to craft, Japanese culture and language, and acting and enjoys putting on fully interactive cosplay events to entertain fans of various genres which she has been doing for four years now. Her work in progress, Cosplay: A World Beyond, focuses on the art of Western and Japanese cosplaying. In May 2011, Mimiru embarked on her journey to Japan with Webster University and the ASIANetwork in order to conduct research and study the March 11, 2011 Disasters. She traveled to Yokohama, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, and Hiroshima with four other students and a professor, hoping to make a positive difference. She returned in June 2011. In September 2011 she left the United States once more to study abroad in Osaka at Kansai University in Suita (Kandai). She returned in June of 2012.

Chris “Papa Bear” English began his journey into cosplay with a mission to spread positivity, promote community growth, education, inclusion, and diversity in the cosplay scene. Fueled by the love for the craft, and a passion for helping others, Papa Bear has been heavily involved within the cosplay community volunteering at charity events as a member of the Costumers with a Cause organization, hosting free cosplay workshops to cosplayers and is a Co-founder of Chicago P.O.C. Cosplayers.
Papa Bear has gone on to be featured on the SyFy Channel, is a TNT Cosplay Supply affiliate, influencer for Warner Bros. was the official mascot for C2E2, cosplay affiliate for Wizard World, been a guest speaker at various conventions, lead cosplay programmer, internationally published, competed and judged in multiple cosplay events, won multiple awards, and has no plans on slowing down.
