AnimeIowa is part of the Mindbridge family ![]() |
LARPSo, you're interested in the Minds Eye Theater. Some prior acting experience can be extremely useful, however its far from required. The Minds Eye Theater (hereon referred to as MET) is very much like improvisional acting. Rather then a script, you run entirely off of your own creativity, interacting with other people how you believe your charecter would, rather than from some book. The only difference is the MET uses a rule system to prevent over powered characters, and the Storyteller provides you with a situation to work with. In the MET, you represent one of the many inhabitants of the World of Darkness, in this case a Vampire. The World of Darkness is a world almost exactly like our own, only it has a more gritty, dark feel to it. Crimes are more common, politicians are more corrupt, and only a fool would leave their doors unlocked at night. On top of it all, creatures like Vampires, Werewolves, and Ghosts prowl the night, unbeknownst to all but a handful of the human population. As previously stated, participants will be taking on the role of a Vampire in the world of darkness. It is possible to be one of the three sects of Kindred/Cainite (as they prefer to call themselves). The first is the Camarilla, an organization that has been around since the darkages, the Kindred, having been nearly wiped out during the inquisition, decide to hide behind mortal guises, pulling the strings of the mortal world from behind the scenes so as to avoid unwanted and possibly deadly attention. The second are the Sabbat, the mortal enemies of the Camarilla. The Sabbat is composed of the most inhumane, vicious, and violent of the Cainites, they believe that mortals are only food and should be ruled as such, and their purpose for being is to fight off ancient Vampires called Antideluvians who wish to devour all of their Childer in a bloody reign of terror. The third are the Independents, Kindred who chose not to ally themselves with either sects, instead remaining true to their own desires, beliefs, and agendas. The Vampiric race is made up of 13 clans, families of Vampires with their own personal tweaks, mind sets, goals, and beliefs, and many lesser Bloodlines, groups of vampires different from the "Main 13", but lacking large enough numbers to classify as a Clan. Clans and Bloodlines available for use and how they think, act, etc. will be gone into further detail by the head Storyteller for each group. Please submit your character ideas to mech_of_war@hotmail.com if you are planning to participate in the LARP during the convention. |
