A final Guest update, we are excited to host illustrator Jenn Blake at AnimeIowa 2013. Learn more on the Guests page.
With the convention drawing near, AnimeIowa’s Consweet (formerly Consuite) department would like to remind everyone to give some thought as to what they will be eating that weekend. While your convention badge does grant you free snacks and soda at the Consweet, snacks are no substitute for a real meal! AnimeIowa strongly endorses the 5-2-1 rule (five hours of sleep, two full meals, and one shower minimum every day). See this link for a list of restaurants near the Coralville Marriott, many within walking distance!
For more information check out the Consweet Forum thread.

Just a reminder to all AMV editors that the deadline for AMV Contest Submissions is July 10th. Check out the AMV Contest page for rules and submission instructions.
The “second chance” ends on Monday, June 24, and we still have a few open Single King rooms! What does this mean? Well~ it means that if you are not staying at the Marriott because it was full when you tried getting in, you may have the opportunity to get in now! If you would like a Single King room, email me by July 1st and we can discuss getting you a room at the Marriott! On the waiting list for a Double Queen room? If you’d be interested in changing your request to a Single King then we will be taking those contacts as well!
These rooms are few in number, so it will be first come, first serve. Email email@example.com. If you send your name, we can work on getting you into the room block and filling our vacancies.
We no longer have any Thursday night vacancies, but we have a few rooms open for Friday and Saturday nights and a handful for Sunday. After July 1st, we will not be accepting any more requests for rooms, so the sooner you get yourself in, the sooner you could be staying at the Marriott!
Also check out the forum discussion.
A quick note that Anime Marketplace is no longer accepting Merchant and Artisan submissions and the list of confirmed Merchants and Artisans has been posted to the Anime Marketplace page.
AnimeIowa invites all artists to enter our 2013 fan art contest! This year’s theme is:
Buu-chan at Café Ai!
The Forum Team joins forces with AnimeIowa’s very own Maid Café, to ask the question “how would we see Buu-chan at Café Ai?” Would he be a Maid or Butler? Would be he the one being served the delicious sweets? Or would he be dancing to the Hare Hare Yukai or maybe Gangnam style to entertain the Masters and Mistresses? Show us with your contest art! For full contest details, and to learn about our AMAZING FIRST PRIZE, please visit our contest info thread on the AnimeIowa Forums.
We need your help. Photoshoots at AnimeIowa are fan organized meetings of cosplayers. This year we shall have the photoshoots scheduled in the Program Book. If you are interested in running a Photoshoot you need to submit it on the forum by June 22nd. Read the rules and guidelines and post your photoshoot Costume Photo Shoots forum group.
An update on the Room Party block. At this time, we are no longer allowing Room Party submissions. HOWEVER, there ARE open rooms on the second floor! Don’t want to be too far away from the action? Want to have socializations in your room without worrying about noise levels? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible! If you think you want to move your reservation to the second floor, PLEASE contact us by SUNDAY, JUNE 23, 2013 so that we can successfully move you from your current room.
You MUST have an existing room in the hotel in order to request that your room be on the second floor. Most of these rooms are Double Queens, and we have begun filling in hotel rooms with the waiting list, so priority will be given to guests currently holding double queen reservations. There is only a few openings, so it’ll be first come, first serve. Find out more on the forum thread.
