Music Video Contest

So, you fancy yourself an editor, eh? Spent countless hours cueing up video and synching sound for the minimal return of personal satisfaction? Well, here's your hour of glory. AnimeIowa proudly presents its annual MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST! Go head to head with other closet Eisensteins and see whose skills reign supreme!

The Rules

1. The AnimeIowa AMV Contest is open to all registered attendees of the con. A winning contestant must present their badge to the contest organizer in order to receive any prize or award related to the AMV contest. Due to conflicts of interest related to judging, staff members are not permitted to compete in the judged contest, but may submit films to be screened and thus compete for the Audience Choice award.

2. Contestants may enter up to 3 videos in the judged contest.

3. Entries may not exceed 5 minutes in running time.

4. All entries must be playable with the latest version of VLC player available at the time of submission.

5. NO HENTAI.

6. Entry in the contest does not guarantee that a video will be shown during the AMV event. The AMV contest organizer intends to show all submitted entries but may show some before the event in a video room.

7. All submissions must be an original composition of the contestant. Submitting the composition of another will be grounds for disqualification of all films submitted by that contestant. Obviously, the source footage does not need to be the original work of the contestant.

8. All physical materials sent as part of the entry process, including paperwork and physical media, will become the property of AnimeIowa and will NOT be returned at a cost to AnimeIowa. If you wish to recover your submitted physical media (CD, flash drive, etc) you must claim it at the convention. You must mark any such materials with your name in order to claim them.

9. Judging of entries will be conducted prior to the con by a panel of judges. This judging round will select winners for: Best in Show, Comedy, Drama, Action, Category X, and a new category for this year, Trailer (as in movie trailer). Winners for these awards will be announced during the AMV contest event.

10. Ballots for the Audience Choice award will be made available during all screening sessions and will be tabulated during the con. The winner for the Audience Choice award will be announced once results have been tabulated (probably during the masquerade).

11. All entries must be postmarked or submitted via email no later then Monday, June 30th, 2008. This is one month earlier then was the case in 2007.

12. When submitting a video, please remember to include your full name, email address, the title of your film, the title of the music or movie that was used for audio, and the titles of the anime(s) used for video.

13. Due to limits on attachment size, videos submitted by email must be smaller then 20 megabytes. You may submit your video using a file uploading site (rapidshare, megaupload, etc.) by emailing the download url and your entry information to the email address below.

14. If we do not receive enough submissions, we will show a collection of Heino music videos instead.
