Message from the 2015 Execs

Greetings,

The AnimeIowa 2015 Executive Team is working behind the scenes with our staff to make this year our best convention yet. While AnimeIowa’s 2015 theme is indeed “Ninjas: Celebrating 10 Years of the LoDN,” we also do have a sub-theme this year to celebrate our dedicated staff and volunteers.

That is why we are kicking off the year with a staff drive. People who are interested in becoming staff are humbly invited to attend our first AnimeIowa 2015 Staff Meeting on October 18 at 2:00 PM at the Coralville Marriott.

In addition, we are also announcing a new perk that we are offering to our staff this year: a comped staff room block. We are still working out the details and the requirements, but we will have more information and feedback on this at our upcoming meeting.

Setup Volunteer Bonus Hours

AnimeIowa 2013 IS ALMOST HERE!!!…..and it’s time to plan for AnimeIowa 2013 Pre-Con Setup. This is one of the days (other than Sunday) you can earn double hours for prizes within the volunteers booth. Prizes such as pre-reg for 2014, entrance into the recharge room, and more!

The Volunteer meeting will be at The Coralville Marriott Lobby (unless directed otherwise) Thursday July 25th, 2013 at 11:00am sharp. At that time the storage truck will be leaving the Coralville Marriott to go to the storage locker. If you can make it before then you’ll get a ride or directions on how to get to the storage locker. If you want to help unload the storage truck when it gets back, try to be there by noon, or 12:30. Volunteer jobs are first come, first serve and setup will go on as long as it needs to.

Volunteer Information Meeting May 18th

Are you interested in volunteering at AnimeIowa 2013? Then you may be interested in joining us at the Volunteer Information Meeting. The meeting will take place May 18th, 2013 at 4 p.m. at the Coralville Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. All the project leaders will be on hand to talk about their various departments, give you an idea of what their department does and what they need volunteers for! If you’ve thought about volunteering and just weren’t sure that it was for you, this meeting will give you a chance to actually talk to the staff and find out what kinds of jobs you can do. You don’t have to be a certain age to volunteer, nor do you need to have prior volunteer experience.

Volunteers are the blood of this convention. We can’t run Anime Iowa without you. This meeting is NOT mandatory. If you can not make the meeting, that’s perfectly fine. Just come visit the merry band of volunteer staff in the volunteer booth!

Extra Volunteer Hour

A reminder to volunteers that you can get an extra hour add to your volunteer card when you sign up online prior to the July 25. This is an added perk to get those volunteer juices flowing and getting people excited about the convention. Please sign up on the Volunteers page or e-mail volunteers@animeiowa.com, Hope to see you real soon at AnimeIowa 2012.

Double Hours for Setup/Tear Down Volunteers

As with previous years, if you help set up Thursday or help tear down Sunday you get double volunteer hours. Also, if you help with setup you can pick up your badge early if you are pre-registered or jump to the front the line Friday if you are not registered. Set up crew starts at 2pm Thursday, July 26 by the staircase in the lobby of the Corville Mariott. Be sure to email volunteers@animeiowa.com if you are interested. Check out the Volunteer page or the volunteer section of the forum for more information.

Volunteer Recruitment

Volunteers are a crucial part of AnimeIowa, they do much of the work behind the scenes that makes the convention function. As a volunteer you earn points which can be turned in for prizes or even free registration for next year. We are recruiting volunteers for AnimeIowa 2012. If you are interested in volunteering email volunteers@animeiowa.com and check out the Volunteers page for more information. As a special promotion, if you sign up for volunteering on the forums or through email before midnight July 25th you can earn an extra hour of volunteer points!

Volunteer Information Meeting June 9th

There will be a Volunteers Information Meeting this Saturday June 9th 2012 at 4pm at the Corville Marriott. This is not a mandatory meeting for volunteering, however it is a great opportunity to meet with the Staff and gets treats and prizes! Anyone interested in Volunteering is welcome. Volunteer Info meeting is NOT May 19

Some of your may have anticipated a Volunteer Info meeting this Saturday, May 19. The Volunteer Info has been moved to a later Staff meeting. The new date will be announced soon.
