Hello, AI 2015 Attendees!
Due to a large city wide event in the Coralville/Iowa City area, our room blocking must begin early. This means that attendee room blocking will open on Monday, December 1st, 2014.
It is highly important that if a room is not available at the Marriott, to please note that rooms throughout the area in surrounding hotels cannot be guaranteed this year starting in January. Please make your reservation plans quickly, as AnimeIowa is not responsible for the loss of rooms outside of the Marriott.
Please do not hesitate to book your room at an area hotel if you are on the waiting list once the room block closes because, as always, AnimeIowa cannot guarantee placement inside the Marriott after the block is full.
We know it’s early, and that can make booking a room difficult, so please direct any questions or concerns to email@example.com and our team will answer to the best of our authority.
The AnimeIowa 2015 Hotel Team
The AnimeIowa 2015 Executive Team is working behind the scenes with our staff to make this year our best convention yet. While AnimeIowa’s 2015 theme is indeed “Ninjas: Celebrating 10 Years of the LoDN,” we also do have a sub-theme this year to celebrate our dedicated staff and volunteers.
That is why we are kicking off the year with a staff drive. People who are interested in becoming staff are humbly invited to attend our first AnimeIowa 2015 Staff Meeting on October 18 at 2:00 PM at the Coralville Marriott.
In addition, we are also announcing a new perk that we are offering to our staff this year: a comped staff room block. We are still working out the details and the requirements, but we will have more information and feedback on this at our upcoming meeting.

Last Call! Just a reminder that tomorrow, August 31, will be the last day AnimeIowa Staff will be accepting electronic feedback forms for the 2014 convention year! Thank you so much to everyone who has submitted Feedback already, and if you haven’t yet, please do! We can’t continue to improve AnimeIowa without hearing which areas are the most important to our attendees and which areas need the most improvement. Let’s make a better con in 2015!
AnimeIowa 2014 has come to a close, and we want to thank everyone for making the convention the best ever! We had record breaking attendance, wonderful guests, and look forward to taking that momentum into next year.
While experiencing that growth, we also encountered a new set of issues. For example, our volunteer base did not grow at the same rate as attendance. As you can imagine, that accounted for some disorganization as we scrambled to make sure things continued to run smoothly with fewer staff per attendee. We also had first time policies, plans, and outright experiments that were put in place to alleviate some of the concerns of previous conventions. Some of these worked, some of these did not. We will evaluate every aspect of the convention and continue to make improvements.
Another aspect of the convention that we will address is security. This is a top priority for next year and we will investigate ways to help attendees feel they are in a safe environment while not turning into a draconian institute. This will be an effort from both staff and attendees and we will require cooperation on both fronts in order to succeed. Keep in touch through the AI Forums this year to provide feedback and see our progress.
Again, we thank you for being part of a highly successful year and look forward to making next year even better. This is your convention, and we hope you will stop and take pride in what you have helped AnimeIowa become. We also hope you will continue to help us make it the best it can be!

Your lost possessions are important to the AnimeIowa convention staff. We encourage attendees to turn over items they find at the bridge. Many do, and even others turn over their finds to the Marriott front desk. Now that the convention is over we are still here to reunite you with your lost items. Please visit the Lost and Found thread on the forum or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for making AnimeIowa 2014 special!
